1.1 Learning Device
SST’s 1-to-1 computing programme is an integral part of our school programme to equip students with 21st-century skills for the digital age. The teaching and learning programmes in SST will require an Apple MacBook to utilise applications from macOS to develop applications natively for iOS and Android. The Apple MacBook is also needed to access online platforms and tools.
Students should not purchase the learning device yet. SST will advise all students regarding the purchase of their learning devices on a later date.
2. ICT Matters For Students And Parents
2.1 Email Account
All SST students are assigned an official email account for communication and access to learning resources during their course of study. The official email account will be used for all correspondences between the school and students. The login information (ID and Password) will be emailed to parents once it is available.
2.2 Students’ Blog
The students’ blog serves as a platform to communicate announcements and general information to students.
URL: http://studentsblog.sst.edu.sg/
Students may refer to the blog regularly to keep abreast of school updates. In addition, students can also download the app “SST Announcer” on their mobile phones. The app enables updates to be pushed to the users.
Click here to download the SST Announcer App:
- SST Announcer on Apple store
- SST Announcer on Play store
2.3 Digital Communications
The school website, www.sst.edu.sg, is the general portal for communication to the public.
For SST parents, we have planned the following channels of communication:
- A Principal’s letter will be sent via the Parents Gateway at the start of every school term (Week 2) and end of every school semester to inform you of SST’s current activities and future events on a regular basis. The Parents Gateway is a new digital platform developed by the Ministry of Education and GovTech to bring greater convenience to parents to perform simple administrative transactions and to stay updated on schools’ programmes and activities. Parents who do not have access to Parents Gateway may email ssd@sst.edu.sg for information regarding the onboarding procedure.
2.4 SST Official Social Media Platforms
For regular updates on our students, school events and achievements, follow our official social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the 2 Instagram channels, @sstudents.life (run by our Student Council) and @sst_edu_sg (A tribute to SST’s community of innovators across 10 years of transforming learning).
2.5 Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
The AUP is intended to prescribe effective, ethical and lawful use of ICT resources by students and ensure a conducive and safe virtual environment in our learning community. This policy applies to the use of the ICT resources owned and managed by SST, as well as those brought in for use by students in SST. All students are to comply with this policy.
Students and parents will be briefed about the terms of AUP during Secondary 1 Orientation and Parent Engagement Session respectively. Parents are encouraged to go through the AUP with the students before accepting the AUP in the electronic form.

2.6 Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
SST has put in place a personal data privacy policy in view of the enactment of the Personal Data Protection Act effective since 2 July 2014. This pertains to SST’s collection and use of data belonging to you or your child. SST will/may collect, use, disclose and/or process your child/children and/or your personal data for various purposes.
In administering and/or managing activities organised and/or held by SST, please note that photographs(s) or video/interview images of your child/children and/or you may be taken during such activities and used, disclosed, processed and published in materials (both soft and hard copy) such as on our online social media platforms, newsletters or other publications.

However, SST will conduct a briefing on Higher Mother Tongue Language (HTML) matters for students who are NOT eligible for HMTL / Third Language but wish to apply for HMTL / Third Language. Students who are eligible for HMTL / Third Language may attend this briefing if they wish to find out more information.

5. Secondary 1 Orientation and Induction Programme
The Secondary 1 Orientation Programme 2022 will place emphasis on individual adaptability to the new learning environment during this period of transition, getting to know new classmates, seniors and school staff team who will be crucial in helping them transit and settle into the new learning environment. Orientation also aims to help students develop self-discipline and imbibe a sense of accountability to self and others in SST and the community through the learning of key qualities such as SST culture, ethos and policies. This will inevitably prepare them for a positive team-based learning experience in SST.
3-Day Orientation Camp:
The Orientation Camp will be held on the school campus from 4 to 6 January 2022, Tuesday to Thursday. It would be a 3 day event with no overnight component. More details will be provided closer to the date.
2-Day Induction Programme:
The Induction Programme on 10 to 11 January 2022, Monday – Tuesday, will consist of workshops and activities that will equip students with essential skills and knowledge for their transition.
6. Badge Ceremony
The Badge Ceremony will be held on 7 January 2022 (Friday).
At SST, we believe that parents are our partners in creating meaningful learning experiences for our students. The Badge Ceremony is an important day in the life of Secondary 1 Students as it marks the day when they are formally inducted into the SST community. The ceremony will be held in school for students only. Parents will be invited to join the ceremony online, via Zoom. Format of the ceremony might change depending on the SMM situation.
During this ceremony, they will be presented with their school badges. We believe that your presence online at SST’s Badge Ceremony on 7 January 2022 (Friday) will provide greater encouragement for your child/ward to be engaged in their learning at SST.
7. Parents Engagement Programme
A series of Parents Engagement Sessions (as part of the Digital Citizenship Programme) has been planned for parents to provide the necessary support and guidance to their children when they embark on their 1-to-1 ICT-enabled learning in SST. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the sessions.
