Aside from our partners in education, SST also works in partnership with leading players in the industry such as the 3M Singapore, Apple Inc, DSO National Laboratories, Exploit Technologies (ETPL), Google, Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) and Singapore Technologies Endowment Programme (STEP) to provide valuable learning opportunities to students.
SunburST Makers’ InnoFest
Participants at our SunburST Makers’ InnoFest pilot gamely tackled their challenge at the SST Maker’s Lab. Over the course of 2 days, the students combined sheet materials and applied electronics skills to realise their creations.
A programme supported by Singapore Technologies Endowment Programme STEP Sunburst, the SunburST Makers’ Innofest aims to build capacity and seed interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) amongst young innovators through a series of maker-centric workshops.
3M InnoScience Challenge 2016
The #SST #3M #InnoScience Challenge is a joint programme between SST’s ADMT department and 3M . The objective of the programme is to inspire and nurture the innovative spirit amongst SST students, through the application of science and technology, and how it can be leveraged to resolve authentic challenges. The theme #LiveableCities, is in line with the nation’s effort to be a Smart Nation Singapore. Students were tasked to to come up with #SmartSolutions to address future challenges such as Urbanisation, Smart Mobility, and Energy Sustainability.
The programme was renamed as the ‘SST-3M InnoScience Challenge’, to reflect 3M’s rebranding efforts in late 2015
The top 4 teams presented their ideas via a 10-minute elevator pitch to a panel of judges. The winning project will be evaluated based on their creativity, scientific knowledge, persuasiveness and delivery and content of the presentation.
The winning team, Team Quadrifoglio won themselves a 3M LED Polarizing Light B1500 lamps worth up to $995 while the three runners-up will each receive 3M prize packs.
SST-3M Innovation Challenge 2015
To celebrate the World Creativity and Innovation Week, some 200 students of the School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SST) threw themselves into unfamiliar worlds – to design solutions for education, as well as safety and mobility for the aged. Proving that one can never be too young make a positive impact to society, SST’s 2015 cohort of Secondary One students developed the prototypes for their creations using special Innovator’s Toolkits from 3M and showcased them in a fair held on the school’s grounds.

SST-IBN MOU Signing
On 23 May 2010, SST and the IBN signed its first Memorandum of Understanding to broaden and deepen SST students’ learning in the field of scientific research as well as concepts of technopreneurship.
Apple Distinguished School
As part of our Staff Development programme, SST also invites other Apple Distinguished Educators on a regular basis to share ideas and leverage the use of technology to transform teaching and learning in the school.
SST’s recognition as an Apple Distinguished School in 2017 marks the third year in which the school was given this coveted certification, and highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment.
