Science Programme: Innovation Programme (IvP)

Earlier this year, 13 SST students participated in the Innovation Programme (IVP) jointly organised by the Gifted Education Branch and the following institutions:

  • National University of Singapore
  • Nanyang Technological University
  • Nanyang Polytechnic
  • Ngee Ann Polytechnic
  • Republic Polytechnic
  • Singapore Polytechnic
  • Temasek Polytechnic
  • Innovators and Entrepreneurs Association

As well as with the support of the following organisations:

  • Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS)
  • 3M Singapore
  • Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd

The programme kicked off in March with the aim of providing an opportunity for students to develop their problem-solving and inventive skills.  It culminated in the Young Innovators’ Fair, which showcased students’ projects from various schools. Prototypes of the products that were developed by the students were also featured in the Fair.

Our students came up with various interesting ideas during this programme such as a clip that can help to keep shirts tucked in at all times even when one is running; a protractor that can measure and draw angles just by folding it; a device that is inserted into locks to help a person switch on / off lights; as well as a feeding machine for those who are physically unable to feed themselves.

Nine out of thirteen students were awarded with Certificates of Merit and four were awarded with Certificates of Distinction. We would like to congratulate the following students for their active participation and involvement in this programme:
