On 14 September 2011, we sent five teams to participate in the annual Amazing Science X-Challenge (ASXC) organised by DSO National Laboratories (DSO), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Science Centre Singapore (SCS).
A total of 147 teams participated this year and our students performed incredibly well and clinched two Special Mention Prizes, which include medals and cash prizes worth $150 for each team. We would like to congratulate the following students for their hard work:
Group 3
- Ng Kok Yin S208
- Cassandra Ong Shieh Ling S203
- Fong Siew Min Serene S204
Group 4
- Gan Wei Qin S207
- Sherwin Seah Yew Hsing S107
- Farrell Nah Jun Hao S107
The ASXC challenges young minds to design and build a stand-alone exhibit that best explains a physical science phenomenon. Group 3 designed the winning exhibit entitled “Acoustic Levitation @ Low Frequencies” and Group 4 designed “The Flow of Wind in Different-Shaped Wind Tunnels.”
Their designs were novel, creative and impressive all at the same time and we would like to thank Ms Karen Teo for rendering her support and guidance to the students throughout this competition.
We certainly look forward to seeing more interesting exhibits next year and once again, congratulations to all!
