From 24-26 May, Secondary 2 students participated in the SunburST Maker’s Innofest. Students worked in teams to pitch their ideas whilst taking on different individual roles such as leader, designer, coder, maker, and marketer.
From 31 May- 2 June, participants from various primary schools across the nation took part in the SunburST Make-A-Thon@SST 2017.
Supported by Singapore Technologies Endowment Programme (STEP), the STEAM-centric competitions served as a platform for the brightest young minds in the country to meet and showcase their innovative spirit and entrepreneurial mindset to transform ideas into feasible tangible products.
Participants from both competitions underwent similar learning experiences, depending on their academic levels.
Through learning journeys and training sessions from organisations like 3D-Printing-Hub.Asia, Greenpac Singapore Pte Ltd, Home-Fix Singapore, SaberMach, PestBusters Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Junior Achievement Singapore, the budding passionate innovators applied the design thinking framework in their ideation and prototypes. The winners of Innofest helped out as facilitators at the Make-A-Thon event as well.
The winners of the Sunburst Make-A-Thon 2017 are:
Team Nanyang Primary School (A): 1st Prize and Best Marketer Award
Team Kong Hwa School: 2nd Prize and Most Innovative Award
Team Nanyang Primary School (B): 3rd Prize
