Singapore Youth Flying Club

‪The Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) was set up at the start of 2011 and aims to promote interest in aviation so as to attract the best students to join the Republic of Singapore Air Force as a military pilot.

The in-house programs include flight simulation and aeromodeling courses. For outbound courses, students are given the opportunity to visit air bases for flight experience programmes such as the Charlie-130 and the Fokker-50 aircrafts.

Awards & Competitions

Earlier this year, SST took part in the Aerochallenge competition @ NP. The competition requires each team of students to design and build their own payload which will be attached to an ARdrone machine, after which it has to complete an obstacle course while performing some specific tasks; it is the 2nd time that SST has taken part in this competition.
We are proud and happy to announce that 2 of our teams have emerged victorious, clinching the top Gold award as well as the Bronze award, out of a total of 74 teams.

For those who are interested to join the SYFC, fasten your seat belts and get ready for an awesome time with the SYFC’s SST unit! Selection for the CCA is done through an interview during the S1 Orientation each year.

Feature

Official Flight Demonstration

In November 2016, SST SYFC led the school’s first ever official flight demonstration. Under the supervision and guidance of Visiting Professor Rajkumar Pant from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU), they have built a remote-controlled blimp over a period of 2-3 months.

The project involves 20 students from SST SYFC across all levels (Sec 1 to 3). Visiting Professor Rajkumar Pant comes to SST once a week to mentor the students, guiding them along in all phases of construction.
