Singapore Mathematical Olympiad Competition 2010

During the June holidays, 34 students took part in the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad Competition under the Junior section. Our students won a total of 1 Silver, 3 Bronze and 3 Honourable Mention awards.

Amazing Science X-Challenge 2010

4 teams have participated in this year Amazing Science X-Challenge 2010 which requires them to create a stand-alone, self-explanatory exhibit that demonstrates a particular scientific concept unique to the physical sciences. One of our teams has emerged as the winners for the Special Mention Prizes of $150 and a medal.

Congratulations to Arthur Lee and Millie Thng from S1-04 for achieving Merit Awards for the Singapore HeritageFest 2010, "Artefactually Speaking" Storywriting Competition!

Singapore VEX Robotics Championship 2010
Our Robotics Club participated in the Singapore VEX Robotics Championship 2010 (3 - 4 June 2010). The club has obtained Silver for 2 out of 3 categories of the competition, for "Team Alliance" and "Best Programming Skills". The team was also awarded the "Judges Award" trophy for Best Newcomer.

1. Project Officer (Network)

The successful candidate will deploy hardware and software solutions to ensure the smooth implementation of collaborative research initiatives between SST and institutions of higher learning (IHLs)

Job description:

  1. Liaise with research personnel and software engineers of each research initiatives to understand the technical requirements. Consolidate the requirements and draw up an overall hardware and software solutions plan.
  2. Prepare necessary documentation for procurement and purchased equipment and software applications.
  3. Take charge of the loan and tracking of equipment to personnel involved in the project.
  4. Install research-related software applications into client computers and ensure it run smoothly.
  5. Diagnose and troubleshoot client computers and/or server(s) when research-related software applications fail to operate as desired.
  6. Work closely with the School Technology Executive to ensure the hardware and software solutions for the research initiatives integrate seamlessly into the exisitng network infrastructure.
  7. Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the school management.

Requirements:

  1. Degree / diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  2. Possess relevant certification to manage networks of both Windows and Mac platforms.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience managing classroom networks or computer labs. Experience working in learning institutions would be an added advantage.
  4. Should be familiar with and provide suport to both Windows and Mac server and client environment. This includes being able to diagnose and resolve network related hardware issues.
  5. Possess experience in managing 3rd party hardware/software vendor.
  6. Possess IT contract, vendor and project managemeent skills.
  7. Has good planning, analytical and negotiation skills.
  8. Has initiative, resourceful and is able to work independently and as a team player.
  9. Has effective communication skills and good work ethics.

2. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Trainer

Job description:

  1. Assist the teachers in developing ICT-enriched lessons.
  2. Conduct ICT Training for both staff and students.
  3. Support ADMT (Art, Design, Media & Technology) teachers in the delivery of selected classroom lessons.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum diploma in Information Communication Technology (ICT) or Digital Media- related field.
  2. Preference will be given to those with expertise in Multimedia skills and Programming skills.
