Media Club

The SST Media Club was set up to equip students with the necessary disposition and skills that are essential in helping them communicate their ideas through different mediums. Students with a greater interest and talent would be able to further harness their skills in the media industry, while others would be equipped with skills that would be useful in their daily lives.

The advancement of technology has also changed the way we communicate. The emergence of electronic media in society has enabled us to tap on different platforms to communicate a single message. The SST Media Club thus provides opportunities for the students to practise and hone their media skills – students will learn to think creatively and explore the advantages and disadvantages of communicating through traditional and new media.

The CCA meets every Monday between 3.30pm to 5.30pm, with trainings consisting of photography, videography, animation and journalism. Equipped with these skills, the students are largely involved in archiving and reporting of school events such as Sports Day, National Day and Racial Harmony Day.

The students have also taken part in various competitions like the KWN Panasonic Competition, Schools Digital Media Awards (SDMA) and various photography competitions. These experiences will enable the students to exhibit the values of Excellence, Perseverance and Teamwork.

In September 2011, three teams participated in the N.E.mation competition organised by Nexus for youths to express their thoughts on Total Defence. Of the three teams, Dreamation made it to the Top 10 list and came in 2nd after an entire month of votes from the public in January 2012. Click here to find out more about the competition.

We would also like to thank the teachers-in-charge for their contributions to the SST Media Club and for inspiring them to be future journalists, photographers, videographers and animation artists.
