Amazing Science-X Challenge (ASXC) 2012

From 20-25 August 2012, our SST students participated in the Amazing Science-X Challenge 2012.

In this competition, students form teams of three to design and build a stand-alone science exhibit that would best explain a physical science phenomenon. Teams are judged based on these following criteria; Creativity, Clarity, Viewer Engagement and their Learning Journeys.

Our students have done well by clinching the following awards under Category B:

ThinkQuest School Award

Earlier in April 2012, a number of projects from the Sec 2 students were submitted to the International ThinkQuest Competition 2012. Students were challenged to solve a problem using their critical thinking, communication, and technology skills to compete against their global peers.

SST was the only Singapore school to received the ThinkQuest School Award this year, which recognises the top 10 schools with the most number of entries submitted.

Hi-Story, My Story Filmmaking Competition 2012

Four of our students created a film titled, “Evolution of Bras Basah Complex”, for the Hi-Story My Story Filmmaking competition organised by the NUS History Society and the National Museum of Singapore.

The students have done well competing against entries from other secondary schools and tertiary institutions to garner them the first runner-up position.

National Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

SST’s National Day celebrations on 8 August 2012, will be led by the Parents Support Group, PforSST for the very first time. The theme for National Day this year is “Loving Singapore, Our Home”. Students will have a fun-filled morning celebrating the nation’s 47th birthday and will be dismissed by 11.00 a.m. on that day. There would be no CCAs after the National Day celebrations.

The day after National Day, 10 August 2012 will be a school holiday and students will not be required to report to school.
